Event FAQs

General

  • Dress code is business casual. The Reception is held outdoors – please dress for the weather. 

  • No, but we are hopeful that once you attend the meeting and hear the speakers, you will want to become a Markel Group Shareholder.

  • Yes, all attendees must register and bring their badge with them but there is a Will Call desk at the University of Richmond for late registrants to collect their badges.

  • The event will not be live streamed – it is meant to be an in-person event.

  • Donuts and coffee are provided for participants at the Crawl, Walk & Run on Tuesday May, 19. Breakfast and lunch ($5 per lunch) are available for Forum attendees on Wednesday, May 20, and a selection of grab and go bites from local food trucks will be provided at the Reception after the Meeting.

Transport/Hotel

  • We have a limited room block available here: The Westin Richmond.

    Once the room block fills up, you can book rooms through The Westin’s regular website.

The Meeting

  • Yes, we just ask that you make sure you register all guests, so we have an accurate count of who is attending. 

  • The meeting begins at 2:00 p.m. and runs for up to two hours, depending on the length of the Q&A session. We hope you will join The Reception immediately following to connect over food, refreshments, music, and entertainment. 

  • The Meeting is the time for Markel Group shareholders to ask questions of the company’s leadership. We believe it is important for our investors to ask their questions and learn from the questions of their fellow partners. We also honor our culture award winners. Please be prepared to sit for two hours. Don’t worry—there will be ample refreshments and time to unwind afterwards at our Reception!
