2025 Reunion Field Trip – Discover the Craft and Quality of McKinnon and Harris
What marks quality? What’s involved in a zealous pursuit of excellence?
This year’s Reunion Field Trip will take you to one of Richmond’s brightest gems: McKinnon and Harris, a company that turns outdoor furniture into timeless works of art.
Guests who registered for the session will tour the company’s showroom from 1:00 to 4:00 PM on May 20th.
The Richmond showroom is where the company designs and produces all its products and ships them to customers worldwide.
Our Reunion Field Trip tradition began to celebrate Richmond, Virginia—a vibrant city we’re proud to call home. It provides Reunion guests a unique opportunity to visit a standout local business, showcasing Richmond as a wonderful place to live, work, play, and visit.
Last year, we explored the Eagle Construction Design Center, where we learned about the art of custom home building.
This year, we’ll take you to the McKinnon and Harris showroom—a space that embodies elegance, craft, and innovation.
About McKinnon and Harris
Founded in Richmond, Virginia, McKinnon and Harris is a family-owned business celebrated for its heirloom-quality outdoor furniture. Every curve, every joint, and every surface of their furniture is shaped, sanded, and perfected by hand. Their techniques, rooted in centuries-old traditions, ensure that every piece is not only beautiful but also built to perform for a lifetime.
McKinnon and Harris is not a Markel Group company but one we deeply admire.
Their showroom is where they design and make every piece of furniture, which they ship to customers worldwide.
The showroom is not just a place to display their work—it’s an immersive experience, a modern-day atelier, and a home of artists in design, welding, upholstery, and more. On the walls, you will see beautiful watercolors painted by founder Will Massie’s mother, an accomplished artist, and pieces of antiquity and sculpture from Will’s personal art collection. To step into McKinnon and Harris is to step into another world.
Guests will witness firsthand the extraordinary craftsmanship and passion that goes into their collections, which adorn estates, gardens, and luxury spaces worldwide. Their clientele includes discerning homeowners, landscape architects, and interior designers who value the fusion of function and artistry.
The Field Trip is just one event within a day filled with learning, connection, and inspiration. Start your morning with Crawl, Walk & Run along the James River, join us for the Robotti Value Live investor panels, and stay for the main event the next day!
