The Heart of Hospitality: our Enhanced Volunteer Program

At last year’s Markel Group Reunion, over 40 associates volunteered their time to ensure our guests had an exceptional experience.  

This year we’re excited to unveil a reimagined Volunteer Program thanks to the tireless efforts of our school-year intern from the University of Richmond, Olivia Wilkie. Olivia is helping with all things Reunion as part of our Markel Group Fellow program during the 2024-25 academic year.

Look for the “Reunion Rangers” Volunteers in the blue shirts 

This year, when you attend the Reunion, keep an eye out for 40+ energized volunteers sporting Markel group shirts, designed exclusively for Reunion Rangers. You will also know who our Rangers are because they will be wearing a volunteer pin with the Reunion Ranger mascot, “Gopher,” and his motto, “How can I help?” on their shirts.  

With Olivia’s enhancements to our volunteer program, and the contributions from our volunteers, the team is preparing and ready to make your Reunion experience seamless and enjoyable—from helping you find your session to sharing tips on where to grab a bite to eat and so much more.   

A Legacy of Service 

The revamped Volunteer Program wouldn’t have been possible without Olivia’s vision and hard work. Her dedication to creating a structured, thoughtful, and engaging program has set a new standard for service at the Reunion. The addition of Reunion Rangers to the guest experience will ensure that her impact as the Markel Fellow will live on, while reminding us of Markel Group’s unwavering commitment to serving its shareholders, associates, customers, and guests.
